Finance Department

Overview

The Finance Department strives to provide accurate and transparent services in a timely and efficient manner. We are responsible for the city’s daily financial operations and long-term financial planning.

What We Do

  • Property Tax & Utility Billing: We handle billing inquiries, payments, and account management.
  • Budget Management: We prepare and monitor the city’s annual budget to ensure resources are used effectively.
  • Financial Compliance: We manage debt obligations, conduct financial planning, and prepare comprehensive annual audits.

Property Taxes

All persons owning property within the city limits are subject to pay an ad valorem tax each year. The millage rate is set each year by the elected officials. Property tax bills are mailed in the Fall and are due 60 days from the date mailed. The current millage rate for this year is 9.5%, and taxes are based on 40% of the fair market value.
