Billing Cycles

Water Bills are generated on the last day of the month and are due by the 15th of the month. If the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday, bills will be due on the next business day.   In order to avoid a 10% penalty and potential loss of service, payment must be received in City Hall before 5pm on the due date.  See payment icon on home page for further information.

Delinquent Payments and Cutting Off Water

If the rates and charges are not paid by the person, firm or corporation incurring said charges or the owner of said premises on or before the 15th day of the calendar month following the calendar month in which the water is used or service is available, then the City of Cornelia shall have the right to cut off the water of such delinquent user, customer or owner and the water shall not be cut on to said person, firm, corporation or said premises until all past due sums owed to City of Cornelia for water together with the ten percent (10%)  penalty hereinafter provided have been fully paid, and a service charge of $50 has been paid to City of Cornelia for cutting on the water for such person, firm or corporation

Water Application

To apply for water service you may come by City Hall between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or download and complete the attached Application for Utility Service (PDF). A $100 deposit is required for service and must be paid with the application. Picture ID and a copy of closing documents or the rental agreement must be submitted with application.

Water Tap Fees

Customers requesting water and sewer taps must apply at city hall. Customers requesting service outside the city limits must discuss your request with the City Manager. Look through our rates Water Sewer Tap Fees located below.
