Fire and Life Safety Education is a essential part of Cornelia fire departments heart and vision. Our goal is to prevent all fire deaths in the city and surrounding areas. We have partnered with local businesses and other fire departments to make this a reality. There were 108 fire deaths in 2015 and 152 in 2016 in Georgia. The numbers are rising and more effort has to be put forward to stop these deaths. Working smoke alarms and a home escape plan are a great start to being prepared for a home fire. Smoke alarms are provided by our department free of charge. Also, help with home escape planning is provided free of charge. Surrounding departments and counties also offer free smoke alarms.
